Smart gridsActive distribution grids
Active distribution grids are distribution grids with changes in the energy flow. With the rise of small-scale energy generators that feed electricity into the power grid at the low- and medium-voltage level, the behaviour of the networks is changing. The energy no longer flows in one direction but varies depending on the load situation and weather conditions. This can relieve the grid when there are good conditions but also overload it when there are poor conditions. When using active distribution grids it is necessary to have controllable local substations in order to regulate the load flows.
